After working as the lead senior advice team for over a decade, founders Laura and Jon partnered with the Oreana Group to acquire the Grant Thornton private wealth business and form Oreana Private. This shift enabled them to better help their clients, providing them with a level of service that’s difficult to find anywhere else.
In 2024, Oreana Private joined forces with Gordon and David of Calibre Private Wealth who became partners to further our mission of providing unparalleled care and service to our clients.

Are you accessible any time or only by appointment?
Anytime for general queries and by appointment for formal review meetings.
Is your advice provided on a retail or wholesale basis?
We are licensed to provide both types of advice; however, we generally provide advice on a retail basis (including for all superannuation-related advice).
We occasionally provide advice on a wholesale basis, but only when the client meets the relevant wholesale/sophisticated investor tests and we believe they are financially sophisticated enough to understand the financial products recommended.
What are all of our costs?
Your costs will be fully disclosed in the Statement of Advice, which details our recommendations and depends on those recommendations.
Costs are primarily composed of fees paid to us directly (initial and ongoing advice fees) and third-party costs such as platform fees, fund manager fees, SMA fees (if utilised), and transaction costs, all of which depend on the final agreed portfolio.
How are your fees calculated?
We agree a fair fixed dollar fee based on the scope of the advice and ongoing relationship provided. Consideration is necessarily given to the size of the portfolio being managed to recognise the risk and professional indemnity insurance costs of managing larger portfolios.
What are the tax implications on the investment we would make with you?
There are no unusual tax implications for the investments made under our advice.
Income from investments are taxed at the relevant entity or personal marginal rates. Capital gains are eligible for a 50% discount if held for more than 12 months – or a 33% discount in Super.
If investments are held by a platform/custodian, they can generally be transferred out of the service without capital gains tax consequences – assuming investment minimums can be met.
How do you manage risk for clients
We manage risk for clients through a comprehensive approach that includes personalised financial planning, diversified investment strategies, regular portfolio reviews, and education.
Additionally, we utilise independent asset custodial arrangements to ensure transparency and security of your investments.
Our team continuously monitors market conditions and adjusts portfolios to align with each client’s risk tolerance and financial goals.
